A VIP departure with Sefar Adventure is not a more expensive version of the same trip. It is a trip built around you: your dates, your pace, your group only, and a team assigned to no one else.
Every itinerary we publish can be run as a VIP programme. Five things change.
On a standard departure you share a camp. On a VIP programme the camp exists for your group and moves where you want it.
That means we can place you on a dune crest for sunrise rather than in a sheltered hollow, hold a site for a second night because the light was worth staying for, or set up within walking distance of a painted panel so you reach it before anyone else. Our crews carry the tents, the kitchen and the water; you carry a camera.
Meals are cooked on site by our own team. Tell us about dietary requirements in advance and they are handled without discussion.
A large share of our VIP clients are photographers, and the difference a private departure makes is mostly about time.
Standard itineraries move when the group is ready. A VIP itinerary moves when the light says so. We schedule around golden hour rather than around lunch, wait out weather instead of driving through it, and build in blue-hour and night sessions where the location deserves them — the Tassili and the Hoggar have almost no light pollution, and the Milky Way there is worth planning a whole evening around.
We also handle the paperwork. Filming and professional photography in Algeria can require permissions beyond the standard tourist permits, particularly in the national parks and at the rock art sites. Tell us what you intend to shoot and how it will be used, and we will tell you honestly what is possible and what is not.
A private departure is often the right answer for reasons that have nothing to do with luxury.
Families can travel at the speed of the youngest member, with shorter driving days and camps chosen for safety rather than drama.
Couples travelling for a honeymoon or an anniversary get a camp to themselves and an evening nobody else is part of.
Travellers with limited mobility can have the whole route rebuilt around vehicle access. Several of our southern itineraries can be run with almost no walking, and the Tadrart and the western ergs are reachable entirely by 4×4. Tell us about any limitation in advance — it changes the route, not the answer.
We run private programmes for company groups, incentive trips and small conferences that want a day or two in the desert attached.
What that involves in practice: coordinated arrivals from several cities, a single point of contact throughout, vehicles and guides scaled to the group, and a written plan you can circulate to participants before departure. Larger groups need longer lead times — three months is comfortable, six is better for the high season.
Not included: international flights, visa fees payable to the Algerian authorities, travel insurance — which we require every traveller to carry — and personal purchases.
There is no fixed VIP price, and we would rather explain why than publish a misleading number.
The cost of a private programme depends on the number of travellers, the season, how many vehicles and crew the route needs, and how far into the Sahara you go. A private four-day desert trip for two people and a fourteen-day photographic expedition for eight are not variations of the same figure.
What we do commit to is a firm quote. You send us the brief; we send back a day-by-day itinerary and a price that does not move afterwards. If the plan changes, we requote before anything is confirmed.
1. Tell us the shape of the trip. Approximate dates, how many people are travelling, what you want to see, and anything that constrains the route — mobility, dietary needs, a fixed return flight.
2. We send a day-by-day plan. Usually within two working days, with the reasoning behind each choice rather than a list of place names.
3. We revise it. Most itineraries go through two or three passes before they are right. This part is free and there is no obligation.
4. We confirm and issue your visa letter. Once the plan and the price are agreed, we send the invitation letter you need for your visa application. Read the Algeria visa guide before booking flights — the rules differ between the northern and southern wilayas.
Lead time. Four to six weeks is comfortable for most private departures. Peak season in the deep south, from December to February, fills earlier — plan on two to three months.
Every programme in our tour packages can be run privately, and most of our VIP clients start there and change three things. Others arrive with a blank page and a fortnight. Both work.
